A brand system that still holds after the first year

A brand system is easy to admire on the day it launches. The harder test is the twelfth month, when new pages, new campaigns, and new people have all had a turn with it.
We start by deciding what must stay fixed. Color, type, and a small set of marks do more work than a library of one-off layouts. If those three hold, the brand still reads as itself when the rest of the work changes.
Then we cut. Teams abandon systems that ask for too many decisions. A smaller kit, with clear examples of what not to do, gets used. A large one gets bypassed the first time a deadline lands.
The last piece is ownership. Someone on the partner’s side has to know how the system is meant to grow. We leave the rules in a form that team can run without calling us for every new screen.
